Childhood Memories in Milk Bar Bites

Milk Bar is has become famous around the world for their cereal flavored soft serve and out of the box birthday cakes. Starting out as a small bakery in lower Manhattan, then Momofoku Milk Bar has expanded into a baking empire with locations scattered all across the island. However late to the trend, I had to find out what the hype was all about for myself.
Popping into the west 87th street location, the iconic pink cursive letters remind you exactly of where you are. The small space was filled with sweet aromas, white walls, and a small bar for ordering. With central park only a few blocks to the east, most customers, myself included, took the sweet treats for a stroll along Central Park West.
In order to fully divulge into the world of milk bar, we ordered both the classic cereal milk soft serve and brown sugar pie crust. Both topped with cookie crumble, the soft serve melted in your mouth just like a traditional creemee from the creme stand you visited on New England summer nights. The thick texture and rich flavors explode in your mouth and bring you back to your childhood, a point Milk Bar owner Christina Tosi makes sure of with every pastry Milk Bar produces.
As a sweet tooth myself, the soft serve was gone before I knew it, yet the flavors lingered in my mouth leaving me craving another bite. Milk Bar certainly lived up to its expectations, if not exceeding them exponentially.
